New Outdoor Wellbeing Programmes Across Lanarkshire
At OutLET, we believe that everyone deserves opportunities to thrive.
Whether you're a young person finding going into school difficult, a young adult looking for opportunities that fit how you learn, a parent navigating the challenges of family life, or a carer who spends most of their time looking after someone else, we all need spaces where we can slow down, reconnect and just be.
That's why we're so excited to be launching a range of new fully funded outdoor wellbeing programmes across North and South Lanarkshire.
Made possible through the support of our funding partners, these programmes will help children, young people, adults, carers and families to connect with nature, build confidence, improve wellbeing and strengthen relationships.
While each programme has been designed for a different group of people, they're all rooted in the same belief:
Nature has the power to build resilience and create opportunities for connection, ultimately supporting emotional wellbeing and mental health, helping people to thrive.
More Than Time Outdoors
Our programmes aren't just about getting outside. They're about creating experiences that help people feel calmer, more connected and more confident.
Across all of our work, you'll find common themes:
Nature Connection
Research consistently shows that spending time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood, support emotional wellbeing and help us feel more connected to ourselves and the people around us.
Whether we're walking through woodland, something with natural materials or simply taking time to notice the changing seasons, nature provides the perfect environment to slow down and reset.
Relationships and Belonging
We know that wellbeing grows through connection.
Some people join our programmes knowing nobody else. Others come with family members or existing support networks. Whatever the starting point, our sessions provide opportunities to build relationships, share experiences and feel part of a welcoming community.
For some, that might mean chatting around the campfire.
For others, it might simply mean enjoying the comfort of being alongside people who understand.
Learning Through Experience
Our programmes are practical, engaging and hands-on.
Sitting in a room talking about wellbeing doesn't suit everyone; our participants can choose to experience wellbeing support through meaningful outdoor activities.
From bushcraft and nature connection, family play and conservation activities, every session encourages curiosity, confidence and discovery.
Strengths, Not Deficits
We don't believe people should be defined by the challenges they face.
Instead, we focus on strengths, interests and potential.
Our programmes create supportive environments where people can develop new skills, discover what they're capable of and experience success in ways that feel meaningful to them.
Our New Programmes launching Autumn 2026
Time in the Trees
A brand-new nature-based wellbeing programme for carers in North Lanarkshire.
Alongside dedicated sessions for carers and young carers, the programme will also include family sessions where carers, cared-for people and their families can enjoy positive shared experiences outdoors together.
Time in the Trees is about much more than peer support. It's an opportunity to step away from everyday pressures, reconnect with nature and take time to look after your own wellbeing.
SOARing Outdoors
Launching for the first time in North Lanarkshire, SOARing Outdoors supports children and young people who are struggling with engaging in or attending school.
Through regular nature-based sessions, participants can build confidence, develop resilience, strengthen relationships and reconnect with learning in an environment where they feel safe, valued and able to succeed.
SOARing Further
Designed for young adults in South Lanarkshire, SOARing Further combines outdoor experiences with opportunities to develop practical skills, improve wellbeing and gain recognised qualifications that can support future education, volunteering or employment.
Steady Ground
Our parent and carer wellbeing programme continues in North Lanarkshire and is launching in South Lanarkshire for the very first time.
Steady Ground provides opportunities for parents and carers to prioritise their own wellbeing, connect with others and explore practical strategies for supporting themselves and the children in their lives.
Continuing Our Existing Work this Year and Beyond
Alongside these exciting new programmes, we'll also be continuing our established work across Lanarkshire.
This includes delivering outdoor learning and wellbeing programmes in partnership with schools, supporting children and young people through our after-school outdoor sessions, delivering Forest School and outdoor learning training, and continuing to work with organisations looking to improve wellbeing through nature.
Together, these programmes form part of our wider mission: helping more people access the proven benefits of nature, play and meaningful connection.
