Winter Craft - Make a Bird Feeder

While we cozy up and revel in the wintery wonderland outside, our feathered friends have a tough time finding their next meal in the chilly weather.

Lend a hand by crafting a bird feeder for your outdoor oasis (or even your garden), and give them a fighting chance to thrive through the frosty season.

Here's what's on the shopping list:

Lard or vegetable fat
String or wool
Birdseed Pine cones or empty toilet roll tubes
Scissors

Warning: This can get messy! So, head to your wild territory for some fun.

Here's the scoop - grab a pine cone or toilet roll tube, wrap string around it, and leave a chunky piece to tie it to a tree.

Next, get your hands greasy, slather some fat all over the cone/tube, and roll it in birdseed. Press down on those seeds and make sure it's covered in them.

Finally, hang it from a tree.

If you want to attract small birdies, keep it low and tucked under a branch for some privacy.
