Nature is the finest playground

Wellwoods is an outdoor play experience held in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire.

Wellwoods was a lifeline for us this year. When we started Sean was very antisocial, and didn't like interacting with other children or adults, a lot to do with the lockdown. Over the first few weeks of Wellwoods Sean really came out of his shell and started to really enjoy coming to the woods. The amazing leaders really helped with that, Nicola was so patient and consistent with him. Wellwoods showed Sean that being around other people, children and adults, was a positive experience and something to look forward to. I will always be so grateful for the experience of Wellwoods for Sean and me.

It is a fun, relaxed space where families have the freedom to get muddy and explore the natural world.

Our fun play activities include:

Habitat hunt
The mud kitchen
Den building
Tree swings
Animal tracking
Woodland crafts
Family outdoor games
Minibeast hunt

Not to mention building a lasting relationship with the natural world. The adults also enjoy the opportunity to connect with each other and the outside space.

Tickets are free and attendees are reminded that there is no bad weather, only bad clothes (yes, even here in Scotland).

After School Activities

Wild Time Forest School - Lesmahagow

Forest School isn’t just for school time.

For those parents who are worried that their children use too much of their spare time staring at a screen, OutLET provides the perfect distraction.

Get them away from the bluelight and out into the sunlight. Your children love exploring, investigating and building a lasting relationship with nature as they play.

Forest school is a child centred approach to learning that takes place in the woods. It offers holistic growth that gives them the opportunity to develop practical transferable skills while improving self esteem and confidence.

It is more than just playing outside. It is guided, supported learning experience with your child leading the way.

Wild Time Forest School runs weekly during term time for children in Primary 1 - 7 and is currently based in Lesmahagow.

I've been going to Forest School for 5 years. It's a really good place just to unwind, see friends and play imaginary games like wolves or make dens. Everyone should get a chance to go to Forest School

Our Forest School programs for Primary 7+.

As children get older, in today’s modern society, it seems to get harder and harder to tear them away from the ipad. With unlimited entertainment at their fingertips, young people are forgetting how to play earlier than ever before. Their wellbeing, mental and physical health are paying the price.

Here at OutLET we are changing that.

Our Young Foresters program gives older children the opportunity to reconnect with nature, to explore and discover the fun that lies within the forest.

They learn practical skills and unlike in school, they get to take control of the learning process with guidance and support on hand. Watch them grow in confidence and self esteem as they thrive outside.

Activities include:

Foraging
Building shelters
Tracking
Navigation
Fire lighting
Cooking outdoors

Sessions are inclusive and qualified staff ensure your child’s safety and wellbeing.

Youth Foresters and the Woodland Management programs run weekly during term time for children in Primary 7+ and is currently based in Lesmahagow.

I've loved coming to Youth Foresters and learning all about nature from Ross and Lis. We've learned about different trees, helped manage the woodland, and built an amazing and massive den that we could all fit in. It is nice just getting to spend some time outdoors with friends. Normally after school, I'd be on my phone or computer so I like doing something different and it makes me feel good

Third Sector Bespoke Programmes

Here at OutLET we provide a range of opportunities for children and young people already supported by third sector groups.

We will create play based inclusive outdoor programs for children and young people in need.

Whether it is providing respite to parents or giving young carers a break from the pressures of daily life, we are here to help you help them.
